Sweet Dreams

Hey Everyone,
After a little blogging break I am bad. It was just so crazy before Christmas. I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas. When I saw the challenge at MelJen's Designs I knew I had to participate. I really love her cute little images.
The challenge is to use Blue. This sweet little donkey was just crying out to be blue :)

Everything on the card is from my scrap bin, so I am not sure what anything is. The blue I embossed wrong, I did it upside down, but I like how it turned out, I just sanded the top and left the debossed part of the swirls dark. I added a little stickles in the grooves, and then put the card together. The ribbon is from my massive ribbon stash and then I colored the donkey with Crayola colored pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs, it is from the Winged Things set.

I hope you all have a wonderful new year, and I will be back sunday with another project for Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge. Come by and check out all the fabulous project my DT sisters have created.

Kristal's stamp sets are perfect for cards, layouts, and so much more...

I used her Fabulous Winter Wishes set to make this card.  It is a simple card, but I really like it.  It is a white background and I used a little gold glimmermist, then I embossed a white paper and glimmermisted it blue.  The mitten is a Sizzix die cut.  I used some Stickles that I got as a gift from the wonder Susan at Cricut and Grasshopper, added some gems and dashes it it was done.

A Frosty Friend

Hi Everyone!!!

I here with another Christmas card.  This one is a light blue background, the white was embossed in a embossing folder and then colored with chalk to make it fade in color.  I used some studio G glitter for all the snowflakes. I added the navy ribbon.  The image is from a Cricut cartridge. I can't remember the name of it, it is on loan from my Aunt right now.  I will look it up when I get downstairs. The hat is cut from Authentique paper.  I wanted my snowman to have green eyes, so I used some green bling.  I popped it up with dimensionals.  Then my sentiment says A Frosty Friend. It is from K Andrew Designs, Winter Wishes Set. I tried something different to get a nice crisp stamp.  I put a piece of foam under the paper to kind of cushion it and it helped make a nice image.

I am still working on Christmas cards so I will be using these stamps a lot in the next few weeks.

I am entering this in the Whimsical Designs Challenge.

Sketches in Thyme Guest Designer

Hi Everyone! I am excited to announce I am a guest designer for Sketches in Thyme this month.  My first sketch to work from was so cute.  I made this layout based on it.  It is slightly different because my first attempt at it didn't go so well, but I actually like how this one turned out much better.  The paper was from a kit I bought years ago at Wal-mart and the letters are Pink Paislee.  I would love if you joined in the fun over at Sketches in Thyme and next week I will have another adorable sketch and layout for you.

Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge

Hi Everyone!
I hope you are having a great day.  I am running around my house trying to get it all clean and some projects done.  I joined an ornament swap in a group I am in and it worked out perfectly with the Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky.  We are challenged to make a holiday decoration, the theme is Joys of the Season.  I thought this was perfect to go along with my ornament.

It was so fun to make.  It took 1 sheet of cardstock and cut it into strips and quilled them.  I then took Studio G glitter glue and dabbed my finger in it and glittered both sides of the ornament.  I stamped Snow Kisses from the K Andrew Designs Winter Wishes set.  Can you tell I really like this set? :)  I used black stazon ink and then cut the shape into a tag and added an Eye-lets Etc eyelet for the hole of the tag, put glitter on the tag, a little twine and it was done.

I hope you join in the Challenge!  Have a wonderful day and I will have more projects for you soon.

Just a quick page

I wanted to do this sketch from PageMaps, I though the sketch was perfect for these pictures.  I changed a few things on the sketch but I am thrilled with how it turned out.

I am also using this as an entry to the Shop Pumpkin Spice Design Team call.  It was to create something that makes you smile.  My daughter makes me smile ALOT. She is soooo funny. The colors were perfect for her. She loves when things are funky. For example she won't wear white socks or socks that match. She hasn't since she was 2....lol.
I used a Colorbok paper pack that I got at Target.  The letters are Pink Paislee stickers, and the flowers are Bloom-lets from Eye-lets Etc.  I love being on the eyelets from Eye-lets Etc. The eyelets set easier than any eyelet I have ever used and I LOVE the bloom-lets. :)  I added bling to the center of the flowers.

Anyway, I hope you liked my page and have an awesome night.

My first Christmas Card

Hi!
I hope everyone is having a great day.  I am enjoying our No School Day! Princess Buttercup and I are spending the day crafting and playing.

I wanted to quickly share this card.

It was an easy card.  I used an embossing folder to do the snowman background.  I used some Studio G glitter for the red scarfs and then the snow is white/clear glitter.  I added the bling for the buttons on the snowman.  I used my K Andrew Designs stamps for the sentiment.
kad011: Winter Wishes (Larger) Now Shipping! - Click Image to Close
Winter Wishes is the set I used.  I stamped it in VersaMark and them embossed with silver.  It is a standard A2 card size, and then I used some paper scraps for the blue.

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezey!

Have an AWESOME day!!

Teacher Project for Thanksgiving

Hi!
I wanted to quickly share this. Last week, you saw the card I made for Princess Buttercup's teacher. So Tuesday night, I was making her a Thanksgiving gift and let's just say idea A, didn't go so well.  Idea B looked like poo, so idea C came out. :)

It was a journal I found at Michael's on clearance, I covered in in scrap paper and added her name.
I am slowly working on Christmas cards and will share soon.

Have a wonderful day!!

The I might be selfish photo cube...lol

Hi Everyone!
I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving!  Ours was great and it was nice my husband didn't have to work, which is rare.
Anyway, I love my new project, I might have to be selfish and keep it for myself.  It started out at a gift for one of the grandparents, but I don't know...  I might keep it.

This was an easy project.  I got the photocube from the dollar section at Target. It was 75% off.  I think I got it after last Christmas.  It has a cardboard cube in it so I just covered it in white cardstock. Then I took a pack of paper, I picked it up at a garage sale and put that on.  I inked the white cardstock and colored papers with pink.  The sayings were put on punched out papers.  I had a whole lot prepunched so I have no idea what size they were.  I stamped them from the Winter Wishes set of K Andrew Designs, and the Fall-o-Ween Set.  The Cute and kisses are from Winter Wishes, Sweet and Fun are from Fall-o-Ween.  I am absolutely loving these stamps.  I love that I can use seasonal stamps for any project.  I know I will use cute a ton of times. :)

Here are some more pictures from different views.

I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Link Up with Love at Getting Cricky

Hey Everyone!

I hope you are all having a fantastic day!
Here is all the info about the Link up with Love.  I couldn't get the code to work.  I think it is cause I am technology impaired.lol

How it Works:

*Link Up Party runs from Tuesday 11/15 to Tuesday 11/22. Winners announced 12/20 at next Link Up Love party.
*Grab the Getting Cricky blinkie and post on your blog's sidebar
*Be a follower of Getting Cricky With K Andrew
*Create a new blog post that is titled Link Up Love Party with K Andrew. In your post, you must mention that the link up love party is a way to get to know each other and find new blog inspiration, mention Getting Cricky With K Andrew, with a link back Getting Cricky With K Andrew.
*Post your favorite project that you've done in your blog post THAT HAS TO DO WITH THANKS/BLESSINGS!! That could be a card, layout, treat holder or decoration.
*Copy and paste the link up code into your blog post so the Inlinkz will show up on your blog
*Spread the word so everyone can join in!
*You must visit, follow, and comment on the 5 people before you AND the 5 people after you in the Inlinkz. It would be fantastic if you would visit as many as you can--maybe everyone? If you are one of the first 5 then you will need to blog the ones before you and a few more after--as long as it's a minimum of 10 near you in the link up tool/gadget)
If you do not do the above your link will be deleted, because it's just not fair to those who work so hard linking up and showing love to the ones on the list. Kristal has two moderators who will be checking this out to keep it awesome and fun!

Here is my project for the day. :)

I wanted to make a card for my daughter's teacher. She is so sweet and a fabulous teacher.  I think I am going to make her a bookmark today and then give her this card to go with it.

I couldn't decide what I wanted to do for this so I want to give my niece, Lisa, credit for helping with this card. She had the idea for the leaf and she found the background paper.  I love how it turned out.  I used my K Andrew Designs stamps Fall-o-Ween set.  It is such a great set and it has more than just Halloween stuff.  I have some year round plans for the sayings.

kad010: Fall-O-Oween (Larger) Now Shipping! - Click Image to Close
I used my Eye-lets Etc textured cardstock for the base. It is slightly smaller than an A2, it is 4 x 5 1/4.  The leaf paper was in my stash, I got it in a big stash of paper that I bought off Craigslist. I cut the leaf from Everyday Paper Dolls at 4.5 inches real dial size. I have been absolutely in love with embossing lately and I don't know why.  I stamped each word separately put the powder on and then stamped the next word.  Used some glitter on the leaf, added some dimensionals, and it was done.

Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge. Today we needed to create something with the theme Thankful.  I am thankful for a lot of things, but i am very Thankful for my best friend. She is wonderful.  We have been friends for quite a few years and she has been there through so much.  I love you lots, Shawna!!!

This is going to be for her.  I have to do some fixing on it. When you make a magnet, make sure you don't put the paper on the magnet side.  I have to take it apart before she gets it.  Her favorite color is green, and I have a cute picture of us to put in it.
It was really hard to get a picture of the sentiment.  I used the K Andrew Designs Stamp set Winter Wishes.  I love this set! There are so many awesome things you can put together to create with this set.  I found this magnetic frame at a garage sale.  I covered it in the green paper.  I cut the flowers from Plantin Schoolbook, just all kinds of different sizes.  I used Versamark ink to stamp the sentiment and then used opal sparkle embossing powder.  For the flowers I inked the edges with versamark and then put them in embossing powder.  I really like how it turned out and I hope she does too.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the fabulous DT has come up with, and please join in the challenge.

Have a great day!

Winter Wishes

I did a cute little card for the hop.  It is a white cardstock base, and the paper both the plaid and dots are Little Yellow Bicycle.  I cut the presents from a Cricut Cake Cartridge called Birthday Cakes. I glittered up the presents.  On the presents I used some versamark ink and 2 small images from the set, the snowflake and star to make a design on the presents. Then I stamped the No peeking.

I thought this went perfectly with the No peeking.

Now you can hop on over to your next stop: Linda!

Thanksgiving layout

Morning Everyone!  I have been feeling super cruddy the past few days, and it involved a trip to the ER.  Yuck! So I am pulling out this project for you.  It was a design team project for Eye-lets Etc.  I think it turned out really well.

Everything on it is from the Eye-lets Etc store. I used...lets see...tea stain paper, large yellow and red eyelets, bloom-lets, lots of them, brown twine, buttons soup, ele textured cardstock, and I think that is it.
Sorry this isn't more in depth.  I just can't be descriptive today. :(  See you on Friday for the Getting Cricky blog hop, and also check out the Getting Cricky Link up with love going on.

Have an awesome day!

Chore fund and a few announcements

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are having a fabulous day.  This was a super quick project.  My husband has been after me to make a container for our chore fund.  I tried a few things, but I didn't like them.  I came up with this.  It is super simple, but I think it works.

The bottle is a iced drink bottle.  I got a whole bag of them off Freecycle, so there will be a lot more bottle projects.  Anyway, I spray painted the top. Then I had a layout I made at archivers and it got all crunched up during cleaning so I took it apart and made parts of it into the bottle. The ginghams is 2.5 x 9 1/4 the butterfly, I remember was a stamp, and then it got punched out, and I think the flower was a punch too.   I took a paint marker and just wrote chore fund on it.  It is sort of hard to see cause it is a light purple.

I really kept it simple, because I didn't know how often it was going to be handled.
Have a fabulous day!

Announcements..lol
Next Tuesday will be the Getting Cricky Link Up with Love for the month. The winner of last month's link up with be announced. Next Friday is the Monthly Getting Cricky blog hop, my very first one as a Jr DT member.

Have a great day!

Time for me to get ready for the football game.  I put my jersey on, and need to make my Defense signs.

A new friend and quilling project

Hey Everyone!  Today was such a fun day. :)  Susan from Cricut and Grasshopper lives near me and we had a scrap day.  I really enjoyed it, she is so sweet and was such great company. We already made plans for more scrappin.

Here is my project I made while we were chatting.  I will be linking it up at My Quilling Nest, she just starting a quilling series.  She will have a new technique each Thursday and then we can link up our creations.

I used a premade card base from studio g, covered it in paper, and chalked the edges.  I quilled my flower, added a gem and used rub-ons for the sentiment.

Craft room clean up update

Hey Everyone,
I know it has been a few days, but things have been super hectic at home.  I have slowly been working though. Day 3, I worked on cleaning up all the craft stuff in my room and relocating it down in the craft room. Day 4, involved relocating all the items from the garage to their home in the craft room.  There are now a whole lotta boxes in the craft room, and they are ready to be cleaned out.  I am taking the weekend off.  Hopefully, I will feel better, and all the drama at my house..lol, will be better, and then I will get back to working on cleaning up some more.  I am so thankful that June is doing this and encouraging everyone, it has been such a help!
Have a great save Halloween everyone and see you Monday.

Craft room clean up day 2

Today I concentrated on finishing picking up the piles on my desk and then on this bin.

Everything in it found a place to nicely be put away.

Then I worked on finding all my ribbon and making a ribbon drawer.

That was it for today.  It feels so good to be getting this stuff done.  Hope you are having joining in and cleaning up along with me.

Craft Room clean up day 1

I was really inspired when I read my blogger dashboard and saw June's post about her urge to purge.  You can check out June's blog here.  She has such beautiful projects, you will not regret checking her out.
Anyway, she is doing a craft room cleaning and purge and it really clicked with me that I needed to clean my craft room.  She is also taking pictures so I took a few pictures.

A few weeks ago, I had a flat u shaped  desk.  There was no storage on it, and it was a little small because of the containers, i had stacked on it.  I saw a posting on craigslist,  Free desk, you just had to move it from the basement.  Ok, I reply. when I get there it is HUGE!!  (as you can see)  The basement is down 3 flights of stairs with multiple turns.  It was a giant pain to try and get out of the house!! My dad and friend were not very happy!!  I had to move stuff to the garage just to get the desk in my house. So now there is craft stuff in my room, garage, random bins in the house and with this project I want to get it all together and clean.  I started cleaning the desk to make room for when I clean out the bins.

Before
After!
It was a quick project. It only took about 15 minutes including moving the shelves around.

Hey Everyone!  I hope you are having a great day.  I have a digital layout for you.  I wasn't feeling great the past few days, so digital is what I do when I feel cruddy.  Sketches in Thyme has their open challenge, which means you can use any sketch you want, and Becky Fleck had a fabulous sketch so I combined the 2.

This layout is for my friend. It was the first time we took her son to the zoo, and he had so much fun.  She is considering scrapbooking and I think digital would be awesome for her, so I trying to show her what you can do with the kits.

Blessed to be 60 day 2

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to day 2 of the Blessed to be 60 hop.  If you are just joining us and want to start at the beginning head to Kathie.  Make sure to check out the day 1 projects also.

Today is all about Cancer education.  I want to talk to you about thyroid cancer.  I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2007.  I was having "girl" issues and my OBGYN wanted me to get checked out one last time before they took care of them. My doctor happened to feel something in my neck and had it checked out.  After 2 surgeries and a week in the hospital, it was found that I had Anaplastic, follicular and papillary cancer in my thyroid.  I am so lucky to be alive.

All this info was taken from  Public Med Health.  I am highlighting just a few things, please head to the site to learn more.

Thyroid cancer is a cancer that starts in the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is located inside the front of your lower neck.
Thyroid cancer can occur in all age groups.

There are several types of thyroid cancer:
  • Anaplastic carcinoma (also called giant and spindle cell cancer) is the most dangerous form of thyroid cancer. It is rare, and does not respond to radioiodine therapy. Anaplastic carcinoma spreads quickly.
  • Follicular carcinoma accounts for about 10% of all cases and is more likely to come back and spread.
  • Medullary carcinoma is a cancer of nonthyroid cells that are normally present in the thyroid gland. This form of the thyroid cancer tends to occur in families. It has been linked with several specific genetic mutations. It requires different treatment than other types of thyroid cancer.
  • Papillary carcinoma is the most common type, and usually affects women of childbearing age. It spreads slowly and is the least dangerous type of thyroid cancer.

Symptoms

  • Cough
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Enlargement of the thyroid gland
  • Hoarseness or changing voice
  • Neck swelling
  • Thyroid lump (nodule)

Treatment

Treatment depends on the type of thyroid cancer.
Surgery is most often done. The entire thyroid gland is usually removed. If the doctor suspects that the cancer has spread to lymph nodes in the neck, these will also be removed during surgery.
Radiation therapy may be performed using external beam (x-ray) radiation or by taking radioactive iodine by mouth. It may be done with or without surgery.
After treatment, you need to take thyroid hormone to replace what your glands used to make. The dose is usually a little higher than what your body needs, which helps keep the cancer from coming back.
If the cancer does not respond to surgery or radiation and has spread to other parts of the body, chemotherapy may be used, but this is only effective for a small number of patients.

Expectations (prognosis)

Anaplastic carcinoma has the worst outcome of all the types of thyroid cancer. It is usually deadly despite aggressive treatment.
Follicular carcinomas are often fast growing and may spread to other tissues, but the outlook is still good. Most patients are cured.
The outcome with medullary carcinoma varies. Women under age 40 have a better chance of a good outcome.
Papillary carcinomas are usually slower growing. Most people are cured and have a normal life expectancy.
Patients who have treatment for thyroid cancer must take thyroid hormone pills for the rest of their lives.

Complications

Complications of thyroid cancer may include:
  • Injury to the voice box and hoarseness after thryoid surgery
  • Low calcium levels from accidental removal of the parathyroid glands during surgery
  • Spread of the cancer to the lungs, bones, or other parts of the body
Another great resource is Thyca.  It is a thyroid cancer survivor's group and it is full of information.
Now, on to the project...

So, me being ditzy...lol  I cut all the pictures for this sketch and knew what I wanted to do, but I don't have any paper that I like for it. GRR! I hate when that happens.    It got morphed into a digital layout.  i would have liked to use different colors, but I had to work with the digital papers I had.  i still like how it turned out though.  A few weeks ago, my husband went out of town.  While he was gone my BFF, who is my partner in crime, took me to get a tattoo.  I had wanted one for years, since I was first in remission, and always chickening out. These are pictures she took during the process.

This project was based off this sketch from sketches in thyme.
Don't forget to become a follower, and leave a comment for a chance to win some blog candy.

Update, i'm a total dingbat...lol  I forgot to tell you to hop over to Amy.  Sometimes I would forget my head if it wasn't screwed on.

Sketches in Thyme Challenge #57

***Click HERE for the Blessed to be 60 hop.***

Over at Sketches in Thyme they had a sketch challenge for this sketch.  I thought it was perfect for this set of pictures I recently got from a friend.  I didn't want it to be too girly, but I think it turned out.

All the papers were from an Oriental Trading, the bling was from my stash and the letters were cut from Plantin Schoolbook.  I had cut the stars, added a little glitter and it was done.

Have a great day!
